QP to supply China with 1 MTPA of LNG
Qatar Petroleum will 1 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG for ten years. This Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) will commence in January 2022 to various LNG terminals in China.
The company said it will supply the LNG from its Qatargas 1 venture, which will become 100 percent owned by the company as of January 1st 2022.
China is a major importer of gas from Qatar. Overall, this agreement included, China will be receiving with approximately 12 MPTA of LNG under long term SPAs from Qatar. China is shifting its usage from coal to gas- which is less polluting- to be used in heating, electricity generation and other usages.
