Brazil continues to work with OPEC; and reforestation is by 2030
Brazil has no plans to join OPEC, but rather they are going to continue cooperating with the organisation, said Bento de Albuquerque, Minister of Mines and Energy in Brazil on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.
The minister said that they will continue working on oil and gas through an increase in production. He added that they will auction areas that are already operated by Petrobras and they believe major oil companies will be available within the auction.
Meanwhile, he said that they will double their production of natural gas in the next 8 years. “For natural gas we have 4 terminals and we will have 8 terminals in five years and also with the increase of production of natural gas in the north region.”
Minister Bento was speaking at a Q&A session on the third day at ADIPEC. He said that Brazil will eliminate illegal activity in the Amazon by 2028.
“80 percent of the amazon is preserved and we have the commitment not only to reforest the areas that were affected but also to ban illegal activity,” the minister told the crowd.
“We can preserve the Amazon and do the reforestation of the areas that were devastated,” he said.
