Fire broke at an offshore in southern Gulf of Mexico

The fire was brought under control around 4.30 p.m. 

A fire broke out on Sunday at the E-Ku-A2 platform at Pemex's Ku-Maloob-Zaap oil field in the Bay of Campeche by Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), the company said. 

The blaze has injured at least five people, who are now being treated for burns in hospitals. Meanwhile the reason behind the fire is under investigation. 

It was brought under control around 4.30 p.m. (2130 GMT), Pemex said in a statement.
