Enteq starts new UK tech centre to power RSS alternative for directional drilling
Energy services technology and equipment supplier Enteq said on Monday it has opened its new technology centre in the UK to drive the development of its innovative SABER Tool.
The SABER Tool, an evolution of the proof of concept, tested by Shell and licensed to Enteq, represents a step-change in directional drilling technology and achieving a new level of reliability, the company said in a statement.
The launch of the new centre follows successful downhole and system testing of the innovative alternative to traditional rotary steerable systems (RSS) for directional drilling, Enteq said.
Housing a team of engineers, the dedicated technology centre at Andoversford, near Cheltenham, will allow Enteq to continue development of the tool ahead of full commercialisation in 2022, it said.
“Once the SABER Tool outperformed our expectations in initial surface and downhole testing, we decided it was time to push forward with our plans for a new UK technology centre to support the tool’s further commercial development,” Andrew Law, Enteq CEO, said in a statement.
The Enteq team has expanded rapidly in response to its product development and the centre will be started up by Marcus Quitsch, who brings nearly two decades of experience from companies including Baker Hughes and Weatherford.
