Siemens Energy awarded maintenance contract in Kuwait
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) awarded Siemens Energy a contract to provide maintenance to 116 high-voltage substations.
The five-year service contract represents Siemens Energy’s largest Transmission service order in the country and one of the biggest service agreements in the power transmission sector in the Middle East. The project aims to ensure reliable power supply throughout Kuwait.
The substations will undergo maintenance to enhance their reliability and safety and will provide power to residential and commercial areas.
“The advanced maintenance services provided to these substations will help maximize performance, lower operating costs and deliver better and more reliable network operations for the Ministry of Electricity,” said Ananthnarayan Iyer, Vice President Transmission Service, Siemens Energy Middle East. “We are looking forward to contributing further to the country’s long-term energy demands in a sustainable manner.”
The new contract covers preventive maintenance and emergency repair of the substations, including various voltage levels switchgears, power transformers and various assets in each substation.
“This agreement builds on our strong legacy of successful projects in Kuwait,” said Herbert Klausner, Managing Director of Siemens Energy Kuwait. “We remain committed to driving power sector efficiency across Kuwait and helping the Ministry of Electricity meet the increasing demand for power for domestic, industrial and municipal use.”
