With its long-established understanding of the maritime sector, DNV is well placed to assist the industry’s alignment with the net-zero era. Two members of the firm’s regional leadership reveal more.

Significant transformation is sweeping across industries in the global race to combat climate change.

Both the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and International Energy Agency (IEA) have issued mandates and targets for the industry to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

As a trusted leader in assurance and risk management, DNV says it is proud to be showcasing its broad experience and unparalleled expertise in advancing safety and sustainable performance for the maritime and energy sectors at Gastech this year.

Maritime

DNV explains that in addition to the EEXI and CII already in force, and upcoming EU ETS requirements, more stringent targets were adopted at the recent MEPC 80 to significantly curb GHG emissions from international shipping and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

“These regulations have significant technical, operational and commercial implications for the shipping industry at large,” says Cristina Saenz de Santa Maria, Regional Manager South East Asia, Pacific & India, Maritime at DNV.

“With a deep understanding of the global maritime landscape, cutting-edge technology, and a thorough risk understanding, DNV partners with its clients to improve their new-build concepts, operational performance, and ensure compliance with new regulatory developments.

“We support stakeholders in the maritime industry with technical, risk and economic matters encompassing decarbonisation, sustainability and digital transformation.”

Energy systems

DNV will be telling visitors to its Singapore stand how it helps industries and governments to navigate the many complex, interrelated transitions taking place globally and regionally in the energy industry.

“We are committed to realising the goals of the Paris Agreement and supporting our customers to transition faster to a deeply decarbonised energy system,” says Brice Le Gallo, Regional Director APAC, Energy Systems at DNV.

“Our presence at Gastech is an opportunity to demonstrate how we support the industry by ensuring safety, performance, and reliability across the oil and gas sector.

“From safely repurposing pipelines for hydrogen transportation to providing materials testing and verifying the condition of your assets, our team of experts combines technical excellence with a holistic approach to reducing your operational risks.”

DNV is welcoming visitors to its stand where the staff will be hosting a daily ice-cream hour and “have experts available to discuss your specific needs”.

Le Gallo concludes: “During the week, we will also be hosting several signing ceremonies with clients from both the maritime and energy industries, solidifying our commitment to provide assurance to the entire value chain; turning uncertainty into confidence.”
