How being face-to-face at Gastech is good for business and the LNG route

Andrew Elliott, President of LNG, Market Development, ExxonMobil, reveals why he is so happy that Gastech has returned to Singapore and what the event and his company mean to the LNG ecosystem in a developing marketplace

What is EMLAP?
Our EMLAP team manages all activities for ExxonMobil’s global equity LNG portfolio, both supply and sales/marketing. EMLAP was awarded a license to import and sell LNG in Singapore in 2021 and has executed LNG Sales and Purchase Agreements (SPAs) with Venture Global and Next Decade in the USA last year, as well as Mexico Pacific earlier this year, to increase the scale, quality and diversity of the LNG portfolio.

The name ExxonMobil LNG Asia Pacific can sometimes lead some to believe that our team covers only Asia Pacific, but actually EMLAP has responsibility for marketing ExxonMobil’s global equity LNG, as the recently announced US LNG purchase/offtake agreements illustrate.

Who from ExxonMobil LNG will be at Gastech 2023?
Representatives from our global affiliates will attend Gastech this year, including people from Singapore and ExxonMobil’s London and Houston affiliate offices. Together, we cover ExxonMobil’s short-term, medium and long-term activities, so Gastech will be a fantastic opportunity to meet the team, and to discuss where there may be opportunities for ExxonMobil LNG to help support your LNG needs.

How is EMLAP approaching the current market?
There’s no doubt that the LNG market has seen and continues to see volatility, but at the very highest level EMLAP’s approach hasn’t changed fundamentally. EMLAP continues to be focused on ensuring long-term, stable and reliable LNG supply.

Despite, and in some ways because of, the current LNG market conditions, EMLAP continues to look for new opportunities to support our counterparties in various areas utilising both EMLAP’s global LNG portfolio but also ExxonMobil’s broader expertise in areas such as LNG Market Development, LNG Terminal Operations, Shipping, Low Carbon Solutions and more, all of which allows EMLAP to provide a range of bespoke, flexible and creative solutions to support our counterparties.

Gastech will be a great opportunity to progress meaningful discussions and interactions in a way that simply cannot be accomplished in a virtual meeting room.

What are you most looking forward to during Gastech 2023?
Face-to-face meetings are always better than anything you can do virtually - from a business perspective, I look forward to sharing meals with colleagues, meeting with business partners at our booth, and catching up with many of our global customers in person. Gastech will be a great opportunity to progress meaningful discussions and interactions in a way that simply cannot be accomplished in a virtual meeting room.

ExxonMobil will also be announcing the LNG Power Play Award winners at Gastech and I, along with the rest of the EMLAP team, can’t wait to see who this year’s Power Play Pioneer, Ambassador, and Rising Star award winners will be. Continuing to see LNG Power Play grow from strength to strength, and also seeing the incredible candidates who are nominated each year, continues to be incredibly inspiring.
