Building responsive energy systems that adapt to global challenges
In an exclusive interview ahead of India Energy Week 2025, Arnaud Pieton, Chief Executive Officer of Technip Energies, outlines the company’s ambitious decarbonisation projects, collaborations across diverse sectors to accelerate the development of sustainable solutions, and how the company is leveraging AI to create intelligent, responsive energy systems that adapt to global challenges.
How does global collaboration contribute to meeting breakthrough climate goals?
Global collaboration is crucial to meeting climate goals, and at Technip Energies, partnership is deeply embedded in our DNA. We recognise that to deploy sustainable and decarbonised solutions at scale, we must collectively break down barriers and offer integrated solutions that can be implemented globally and affordably. We collaborate across diverse sectors to accelerate the development and scaling of these solutions.
For instance, our joint venture with John Cockerill, Rely, focuses on integrating green hydrogen and power-to-X solutions. Its first product, Clear100+, is a 100MW green hydrogen plant, offering a productised solution that is quick to implement, reliable, safe, and configurable, making green hydrogen more affordable.
Additionally, our brand Reju leverages technology jointly developed with IBM and Under Armour to recycle PET textiles, achieving over 95% efficiency and enabling the recycling of complex textiles into high-quality products. Through such successful collaborations, we are paving the way for a sustainable, decarbonised future.
How can we accelerate the pace of the energy transition?
Accelerating the energy transition requires a multi-faceted approach focused on securing access to sustainable energy by providing diversified and affordable solutions. At Technip Energies, we leverage our expertise in complex process technologies and our ability to integrate technologies into large-scale projects to offer a wide range of solutions to our clients.
This expertise has led to groundbreaking projects in the LNG sector, such as the Ruwais and Marsa LNG projects, both using electric-driven motors powered by low-carbon electricity instead of conventional gas turbines, making them among the lowest greenhouse gas intensity LNG plants in the market.
Our recent award for the Net Zero Teesside Power project, which aims to be the world’s first gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage, highlights our leading position in integrated CCUS solutions and our ability to partner, here with GE Vernova, Balfour Beatty, and Shell C&T.
What role does digital technology play in improving the efficiency of existing energy systems?
Digital technology is revolutionising energy systems by driving efficiency and innovation. At Technip Energies, we’ re embedding digitalisation and AI directly into our core processes, transforming how we design, execute, and optimise energy solutions. Our four-year digital acceleration roadmap encompasses nearly 70 key initiatives to modernise our operating model, building strategic digital partnerships, and developing cutting-edge technological solutions.
At Technip Energies, we are a company of people with AI. We leverage AI-generated quantities at the tender stage, geo-localisation for remote safety, AI-supported proposal preparation, AI-generated 3D design, and AI-powered tender requirements. These efforts enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve project certainty, creating intelligent, responsive energy systems that adapt to global challenges, making sustainable energy more accessible and economically viable.
What are you planning to showcase at India Energy Week 2025?
At India Energy Week 2025, we will showcase our innovative decarbonisation solutions specifically designed for the ethylene and petrochemicals sectors, including advanced chemicals and polymers. We are excited to introduce Rely, our joint venture focused on Power to X and green hydrogen markets, which aims to provide scalable solutions for industrial decarbonisation.
Our leadership in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) will also be highlighted, demonstrating technologies capable of reducing emissions by up to 65%. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to explore MMY, our Modular Manufacturing Yard located in Dahej, India, dedicated to productisation and process modules. We look forward to engaging with visitors and discussing collaborative opportunities to advance sustainable energy solutions.
